It is really up to you whether or not you want to take it again. From what I've read it doesn't seem like it will matter much between say, a 690 and a 710. Do you plan to study more? My roommate scored 700, then took it a month later with absolutely no additional studying, and scored 730. Either way, a 690 is a great score, so I congratulate you!

first, congratulations. 690 is a pretty good score, more so because it is well balanced.

second, its ok to think that you can do better. if you really think you can increase more than 30-40 points, i would say retake the test (although that will eat into your app time), else just concentrate on your essays and you should be fine.

That's a pretty darn good score. I don't know why persons think that a high G-mat score is a guarantee to B-school.
Once your score is within the school's average, you should be fine.

Any score with > 80 in either sections shows your potential to handle the courses during those 2 years.. And having said that, i know it is likely to run behind that 700 mark, when you miss it by the minimum you... But i feel that a retake, in your case, is certainly not necessary...

I too was in a similar delimma a month back, and even when i just have a 75 percentile in verbal, i felt retaking to be a trade off to good essays... And no one would suggest that, right?

So... dont even think of taking it again girl.... And start with the most exciting part of the process... You will love it... Essays!!
